From hotel sales, meeting and incentive planning to owning Nautical Destinations, a group yacht charter and events company on the Chesapeake Bay, Lynne Forsman has a wide variety of experience, both corporate and entrepreneurial, in the hospitality industry over the past 25 years.


  • Marriott Hotels and Resorts - Boston and San Francisco
  • The Portman Hotel Company and The Portman Hotel - San Francisco
    Charter member of a new hotel company introducing Asian hospitality to the US (an affiliate of the Peninsula Group) and lead sales effort in opening the most expensive-built hotel in the City at that time (now the JW Marriott)

Meetings and Incentives

  • By Design, Meetings and Incentives (division of Getz Int’l Travel) – San Francisco
  • Conference Planners (now a division of George P. Johnson Company) – San Mateo, CA
    Instrumental in orchestrating many of Silicon Valley’s top technology companies’ incentives.

Yacht Charters and Events

  • Nautical Destinations (co-owned small women-owned business for 13 years) - Annapolis
    Offering customized yacht charters and special events to groups visiting Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, DC. **Sold in 2007 to Pintail Yachts.

Hospitality/Tourism Greening

  • Go Green, Charter with Environmental Responsibility – Launched by Nautical Destinations encouraging groups to take sustainable action while cruising on the Bay (2004)
  • Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC) – Joined (2005) and serving as Board member the past two years. Membership Chair
  • Green Drinks Annapolis (2006) – Founded as a causal networking group bringing together the diverse environmental community of the area. Goal is helping establish the Annapolis area as a green meeting destination. Currently over 100 guests in attendance each month
  • Mentor of the Year (2006) - Business for the Bay Environmental Excellence Award – sponsored by the Maryland Department of the Environment
  • Annapolis Green - (2007) – Website and consulting inspired by information generated by Green Drinks Annapolis. Including Green Caffeine, a small morning meeting think-tank for green businesses. Also assisting both the hospitality industry and local community in a variety of greening initiatives and speaking engagements
  • Green Drinks Smith Mountain Lake (2007) – Used Annapolis model in establishing at her “second home” in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.
  • AAACCVB’s Green Team (2008) – A founding member and helping shape the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County CVB’s greening initiative

Lynne’s memberships and activities include Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association Int’l (HSMAI), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Conference & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors along with numerous other community and local interests.

With a BS in Hospitality Tourism Management from Purdue University, she is still active in alumni relations (greening their tourism curriculum). Lynne lives outside of Annapolis, MD with her husband Mark.
